There are tons of great restaurants in the area. We check out Palm Springs Life or Desert Guide for ideas, as well as various websites, such as Desert Dining Guide. A few we like are listed here:

DON AND SWEET SUE'S CAFE
Great place to have breakfast-air conditioned inside and misted patio. Great prices-great food (especially when I have a yen for chicken fired steak, or biscuits and gravy) - not fancy.

LAS CASUELAS NUEVAS
We like to dine on the outdoor patio, open to the air, with lights wound around the trees - feels like we're in Mexico. Great Mexican food, margaritas and atmosphere. There are other restaurants owned by the same family with great food (Las Casuelas Terraza, Casuelas Café, and the original Las Casuelas) but we feel like we're in Mexico with this one.

SHERMAN'S DELI
Unbeatable deli food, with sky high corned beef or pastrami sandwiches (unless you're starved, order half), latkas, lox.

UPPER CRUST PIZZA
Pizza is great - no delivery, eat in or take out only.

And lots more! Eat! Eat! Eat!

And when we're tired of dining out and have gained too much weight, we barbeque a small steak or a chicken breast, make a salad, set out some fresh fruit, and dine at home on the patio.
BABE'S BBQ & BREWERY
Good for lunch - barbequed meats, sweet potato fries, home baked beans, and a big brass pig out front!
BANGKOK 5
Wonderful Thai restaurant in Rancho Mirage-definitely worth a visit.
BLUE COYOTE BAR & GRILL
Southwestern and Mexican food and margaritas in downtown Palm Springs.
KOBE JAPANESE STEAK HOUSE
Sushi bar, cooking on a grill (like the Samuri in Saskatoon). Yum.
MASSIMO RISTORANTE ITALIANO
Ad says "exquisite Italian cuisine" and they are right. Dave also likes their grappa!
P.F. CHANG'S CHINA BISTRO
Great Chinese food in the River at Rancho Mirage-reserve ahead!
RED TOMATO HOUSE OF LAMB
Rack of lamb? Pasta? This is the place to go. Huge and great antipasta tray to share.
